About the UC Microbiome Study
The UC Microbiome Study is looking at an investigational medication for people with ulcerative colitis (UC). This investigational medication is designed to work differently to other UC medications.
Studies have shown that people with UC often have changes in the population of bacteria living in their intestines (guts), called the gut “microbiome.” The investigational medication contains purified bacteria from the intestines of healthy people. Researchers hope that this will help restore the health of the gut microbiome in individuals with UC.

The aim of the UC Microbiome Study is to see how safe the investigational medication is. Doctors would also like to learn if it could potentially help to reduce UC symptoms with fewer side effects.
What to Expect
Participation in the study will last for up to 67 weeks and will include up to 14 visits to the study center and up to 7 follow-up telephone calls.

If you take part in the UC Microbiome Study you will have a variety of tests and assessments at the study visits. These will include:
Physical examination (e.g. measuring weight and height)
Blood, urine (pee), and stool tests to check your general health
Vital signs measurements (blood pressure and pulse rate)
Lower endoscopies and biopsies
(the study doctor will use a thin flexible camera to look at your intestines and may take some small samples of tissue for laboratory testing)
You may be eligible to take part in the UC Microbiome Study if you:
are 18–80 years of age

have been diagnosed with mild-to-moderate UC for at least 3 months

have already tried at least 1 current UC medication.
